CALL FOR PROPOSALS CASEA 2009

As Co-Chair of the 2009 CASEA program, it is my pleasure to invite you to submit proposals to the CASEA Annual Conference at CSSE 2009. This year's conference theme is Capital Connections: Nation, Terroir, Territoire. It will be held May 23-26, 2009, at Carleton University, Ottawa. Deadline for submission of proposals is November 12, 2008.

Information on the submission process and other details can be found on the CSSE conference website at http://www.csse.ca/Conference/Conference.htm. Please note that you must be a member in good standing of CSSE and CASEA in order to submit a proposal and make a presentation at the 2009 conference. All submissions will be peer-reviewed.

Your assistance with the reviewing process is integral to developing a rigorous CASEA program. If you have served as a reviewer in the past, I would encourage you to continue your collegiality and to extend the invitation to others who have not yet participated in this capacity. Graduate students may consider this an opportunity to learn about the reviewing process and/or the nature of scholarship in which CASEA colleagues are engaged.

RETURN OF THE CONVERSATION SESSIONS

For the second year, CASEA will incorporate "Conversation Sessions." The intent of these informal sessions is to engage members in stimulating discussion around broad interesting topics that are exploratory in nature. A Conversation Session would not normally involve formal presentations or written papers, but it should begin with some context-setting and conversation starters posed as questions. Examples of potential topics: Knowledge mobilization: What are scholars doing to share their research with audiences other than academics? The Conversation format is different from the options listed on the official Call for Presentations for CSSE. All suggested topics, however, will be peer-reviewed. More information regarding submission and review process of Conversation Session proposals will be included in the October newsletter from the CASEA Executive. Anyone with questions in the interim can contact Rosemary Foster ryfoster@ualberta.ca.

On veut vous voir à Ottawa! See you all in May in Ottawa!
