CASEA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING/
ACEAS ASSEMBLEE GENERALE ANNUELLE 2009
Carleton University
May 25, 2009
Past President’s Report
Claire Lapointe
The primary responsibility for the past president this year was the creation of the new committee for francophone scholars. Three members are currently working on the committee: Roseline Garon, Carolyn Shields, and Claire IsaBelle. I recommend that CASEA have one more faculty member as well as a graduate student on the committee.
One of the issues for francophone scholar attendance is the fact that CSSE is two weeks after ACFAS, a major international francophone conference that takes place in the province of Quebec, and sometimes at the U. of Ottawa, every year. But the main issue is that CASEA members need to attend the bilingual presentations in order for francophone scholars to feel welcome and decide it is worth attending CASEA. This year, very few people attended the bilingual session but those who did noted the quality of the papers presented.
